As Dashboards provide greater insight into company operations, they reduce the need for direct management and thus enable greater Autonomy. Greater Autonomy, in turn, allows for more freedom, the spontaneous formation of teams, and, inevitably, greater creativity and productivity. In this chapter, we’ll look at the fundamental role of Autonomy in the Exponential Organization. In a remote-working, post-COVID world, Autonomy has eclipsed almost every other ExO attribute in terms of importance, not least because it is nearly impossible to impose traditional managerial control over a widely scattered, decentralized workforce.
