Angela Morente Cheng
Awaken Creation Portola Valley, CA, USAAngela dedicates herself to realizing the vision of thriving of human and ecological systems aboard Spaceship Earth. She started her career at NASA, Agilent, and Sandia before joining a $130m fund as a tech research analyst. In tracking how disasters impacted supply chains, she championed cleantech alternatives leading to investments in SSDs, LEDs, and chip-scale atomic-clocks. She previously served on the nanotechnology team at a patent law firm. She got involved in the Philippines technology ecosystem through the founder, who the UN tasked to set up the country’s patent system. This ranged from establishing internet in jungles, immersing entrepreneurs at the PlugNPlay Tech Center, guiding accelerators, and hosting leaders for bizdev tours of Silicon Valley.
Angela studied physics, economics, and classics at Stanford, where she probed the nanoscale, reassembled greek pottery, and scripted virtual realms. She also taught science summer camps and managed online courses. At Singularity University’s Global Solutions Program, she co-founded NuTerra, which used satellites to monitor the environment. Her first venture Blue Can has prepared 500,000 people for disasters with FEMA and is a social business that was recognized as a CleanTech Open Semifinalist. She practices yoga, on a mat and in her work.
