Staff on Demand - How to Get Started 

  • Make a list of tasks that could, if needed, be outsourced to Staff on Demand platforms. Then identify the positions responsible for those tasks. Convert more of these employees into contractors.

  • The pandemic plus Zoom have shown us that employees can operate anywhere on the planet. Use that “geographic arbitrage” to contract gig workers where the low cost of living, high education rates, and quality of infrastructure give on-demand staffing a decisive advantage.

  • Overcome your own prejudices about “temp” workers and recognize that modern freelancers may have superior skills and experience than your own employees. 

Take a large army of on-demand staffers surrounding an ExO. Add to that army the vast numbers of customers and other stakeholders that result from immense scaling possible by technology. The result? Crowds and Communities will inevitably become more important to an ExO than to any form of enterprise before it. Those attributes are the subject of the next chapter.
