Crowd and Community - Requirements and Pre-requisites

Here is what you need to successfully implement a Community—and attract a Crowd:

  • MTP. As we’ve said throughout this book, a powerful MTP precedes everything in an Exponential Organization. This is especially true regarding Communities and Crowds because traditional employee salaries and benefits are not available to them. The MTP allows organizations to create an emotional connection within a Community.

  • AI and Algorithms necessary to track and analyze interactions between and within Crowd and Community.

  • Engagement. An effective ExO “gamifies” everything from incentive prizes to crypto-economics to make Community Engagement sticky. Engagement is extremely tricky because, inevitably, some Community members think they know more than the company—and grow resentful when their ideas aren’t adopted.

  • Interfaces so that the Community can self-provision the tools they need to build.

  • Dashboards to track Engagement and metrics.

  • Experimentation so that a Community can design and run experiments in line with the organization’s MTP.

  • Autonomy so that the Community can act on its own and have a sense of freedom and independence.

Social networking so that both Community and Crowd can have rich interactions over distance and time.
