The Future of Social Technologies

Social Technologies will become more immersive, faster, and more intelligent, supercharged by AR/VR, metaverse, and AI technologies. Here’s a glimpse of what we can expect:

• First, and fundamentally, remote working and distributed global teams will remain a mainstay of working life.

• Corporate social networks won’t operate only within a company; rather, they will create peer-to-peer connections across a company’s entire Community.

• Today’s “text-only” Social Technologies will soon be replaced by immersive virtual experiences, where workers and colleagues meet as avatars in virtual reality, with AIs present as NPCs (non-player characters). Such immersion will extend conversations from text to full emotional engagement. 

• Hanging out in virtual rooms with colleagues will continue to be the norm, allowing us to get back to “water-cooler” conversations.

• The speed of collaborative virtual innovation will exceed that of collaborative in-person innovation.

• AIs will become personal assistants and expert co-pilots for executives. They will analyze conversations to extract key points. Eventually, AI will be ongoing partners in conversations inside an organization. AI-based digital twins will emerge that will shadow, support, and enhance their human counterparts. Someone’s AI twin will appear at less important meetings, represent their viewpoints, and report back outcomes.

• Zoom-type calls will evolve into metaverse meetings using avatars, VR headsets, and other devices.

• Metaverse collaboration environments will explode. Vatom is a key leader in this emerging field. Communities will gather in virtual worlds, such as Decentraland and Sandbox. The rise of the spatial web is the destiny of Social Technologies.

• Soon, the resolution on a screen will exceed the resolution of the human eye. At that point, Virtual Reality will disrupt reality.
