The ExO Top 100

As part of the book’s genesis, Salim also worked with a group of 160 ExO experts across 45 countries to research and grade multiple startups and scale-ups founded after 2005, as well as several incumbent organizations. He used a diagnostics of their Exponential Quotient (ExQ), an aggregate score compiled from responses to a 21-question survey on exponential attributes. The survey identified the Top 100 exponential organizations: the most scalable and adaptable of the firms assessed. An eight-year trailing analysis for these Top 100 Exponential Organizations, similar to that of the Fortune 100, revealed equally fascinating results. The ExO Top 100 boasted:

• 80% of the Top 100 generated positive shareholder returns,

• an impressive 26% average annualized growth in valuation—twice as much as the S&P 500 for the same time period, and

• a staggering 46.6x jump in valuation for startups and scale-ups. 

This is the data that wasn’t available in 2014. It suggests that not only were our co-authors’ early predictions not overly optimistic—as some suggested at the time—but rather that, in many cases, they weren’t optimistic enough. Ten-times growth is eminently achievable to those willing to board the exponential bullet train, and that kind of growth becomes sustainable for years.

As we dug deeper into these companies’ operations, it became apparent that going exponential was not simply a matter of adopting the right technologies and implementing different operational schemes. Rather, they also adopted a new cultural paradigm that, in short order, transformed their very nature.

The Exponential Leadership Mindset / Abundance360

While Salim was developing the ExO community worldwide, Peter was building and exclusively running Abundance360, which is Singularity’s highest-level program. Abundance360 is a year-round leadership program designed for founders, executives, and investors who are ready to create meaningful impact and leave a legacy. It is for those exponential entrepreneurs who desire to develop their Massive Transformative Purpose (MTP) and take on Moonshots (both of which are discussed in greater detail throughout this and the original book).

The Abundance360 membership and faculty meet in person in Los Angeles every March during a five-day, five-star summit. They also gather quarterly online for implementation workshops and member meet-ups. The Abundance360 programming focuses on:
