Abundance Mindset

Next up is an Abundance Mindset. An Abundance Mindset is one that realizes that every year brings more and more opportunity and that technology is a force converting what was once scarce into greater and greater abundance. There are two key dimensions of this Mindset: Abundance vs. Scarcity and Optimism vs. Fear. Nothing is more fundamental to an abundance mindset than how you see the world in these two dimensions.

Mastering this will bring you greater fulfillment and less stress. It will change how and where you see opportunity. If you’re an entrepreneur, an abundance mindset will inspire the best employees to work for you, while visionary brands, partners, and investors will want to work with you. 

Just think of the sort of people whose company you enjoy. Would you rather spend your day with someone who thinks the world is falling apart and sees danger around every corner? Or with someone who believes that the passionate and determined human mind can overcome almost every challenge?

Today, technology is a force that converts scarcity into abundance, over and over again enabling a world with an abundance of capital, energy, communications, computation, food, water, shelter, healthcare, and knowledge.

Living in a world of ever-increasing opportunities and abundance means you should not fear the future or resent an opportunity you’ve missed. Next year will bring more.

Things that were once available only to the richest are now available to almost anyone—anywhere on the planet. A child in Zimbabwe can Google any information they want or even video conference with someone on the other side of the world for free! Many things we paid millions of dollars for just a few decades ago are now available on our smartphones for no cost.

Through his mindset work, Peter’s mission is to liberate us from our unhealthy “Scarcity Mindset” by sharing example after example of growing abundance that will train our neural nets towards data-driven optimism.

In a world of scarcity, there’s a limited pie. If your neighbor gets a slice, then you get a smaller slice. This is a world of limited resources and zero-sum competition. But when you have an Abundance Mindset, rather than slicing the pie into thinner and thinner slices, you simply bake more pies.

This is the future that exponential technologies enable.
